Ali Lones, of Oxford,
Connecticut, is interning this summer as HVA’s first River Steward of
Tomorrow. She will be working on a variety of land and water protection
projects based in the Cornwall Bridge office.
Ali recently graduated
from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and
a minor in Environmental Studies. Ever since her childhood visits to
Thomas Pond in Raymond, Maine, Ali has loved the outdoors.
After her sophomore
year of college, she realized that she could make a career out of
protecting the environment, a passion of hers. So, she quickly changed her
major and focused the rest of her college career on developing her
environmental knowledge and skills.
In addition to her
classes, she worked in the Department of Transportation as a bus driver,
trainer, and dispatcher and at the Office of Environmental Policy as a
sustainability intern.
When she’s not
"yelling" at her family and friends for not recycling, she enjoys Irish
step dancing, playing the violin, and of course, spending time in the
great outdoors. |
