HVA recognized by Millbrook Garden Club
for environmental contributions

HVA received the 2010 Garden Club of America – Millbrook Garden Club Commendation Award given to individuals or organizations for outstanding service in civic improvement within the community.

"HVA has been a pioneer in the preservation and conservation of restoring rivers and protecting natural places within the Housatonic River Watershed, including the Tenmile River Basin in New York State, as well as the Litchfield Hills in Connecticut," Arete Warren, Millbrook Garden Club President, said, when she conferred the award to Lynn Werner, executive director and Michael Nesbitt, board of directors treasurer.

She added, "The Millbrook Garden Club applauds their efforts in educating the public about these areas. You certainly are 'the green voice of the Housatonic River Valley."'

These Commendation Awards are proposed by the Millbrook Garden Club and are reviewed and approved by the National Awards and Conservation Committees of the Garden Club of America. There are 199 member clubs of the Garden Club of America, 22 of which are in New York State.
