On Wednesday, August 9, a special event “Celebrating the Beauty of the Housatonic” was held at historic Stockbridge Station in Stockbridge, Mass. Hosted by longtime HVA supporters Richard and Pamela Stebbins, the celebration highlighted the work of Housatonic Valley Association and gave river lovers a chance to mix and mingle. A video presentation of the ten-day “Source to Sound 2016” paddling trip highlighted the diversity of the river, with GoPro video footage covering the entire 150-mile water trek from the Berkshires to the tidal marshes of Long Island Sound. Many of the evening’s attendees had been part of that voyage and were happy to relive the experience. Visitors also enjoyed artworks from the Schantz Gallery’s “River Art Project” featuring river-inspired paintings from local artists, proceeds from which benefit HVA and other river conservation organizations.
